The Benefits of Self-Care
In life you’re either in alignment or out of alignment there is rarely an in between and self care isn’t selfish.
We all lead busy lives with jobs, family and obligations. Sometimes we become so far out of alignment that we snap at our kids, we over eat, drink too much and don’t get nearly enough sleep. This is when self care becomes paramount.
When we are emotionally or physically exhausted, we don’t perform at our highest levels and we’re not in tuned with our higher self. Taking time once day to do something small for ourselves isn’t selfish, it benefits everyone around us.
When my kids were little, I would put a sign on my door that said, “Mommies Time Out” and I’d take a few minutes to regroup myself.
If your children are young and need supervision, I don’t recommend leaving them unattended for long periods of time.. If you have a period of time when they are napping, or someone is around that you can hand off responsibilities to for a 30-minute break, it would make all the difference.
Some great ways to practice self care are
- Getting a massage.
- Going to the gym.
- Meeting friends for coffee.
- Going to a movie alone.
- Take a bubble bath.
- Give yourself a manicure or a pedicure.
- Give yourself a facial or deep condition your hair.
- Take a walk out in nature.
All of these things don’t cost much money or take too much time and can have serious long-term benefits such as:
- Alleviating chronic stress by relaxing you.
- Promote emotional health by lifting your self-esteem.
- Giving you much needed alone time.
- Enabling you to be the best version of yourself.
So, give yourself a time out today, by doing this you’ll function at a much higher vibration. Keeping your cup full isn’t being selfish, it’s the absolute best thing for you and everyone else in your life.
